Apple has announced the fifth generation Apple Watch. The main feature of the Apple Watch Series 5 is the constantly on screen thanks to the Retina display and AlwaysOn Display technology.
What’s new?
The watch retained the design and dimensions of the previous generation but was significantly updated inside. The developers claim that Series 5 will last up to 18 hours without recharging, like the previous generation, despite the AlwaysOne Display.
The company has achieved this opportunity, thanks to a new low-temperature polysilicon and oxide display, as well as optimization of the processor. The watch screen will constantly work in low brightness mode until the owner lifts his wrist. Watchfaces and training modes have also been significantly redesigned. Among other important innovations, the company notes the built-in compass and emergency calls operating in 150 countries around the world.
Apple Watch Series 5 will come with recycled aluminum and titanium coating, in addition to stainless steel and ceramic.
watchOS 6
The new watch will support the new version of watchOS 6 “out of the box”. After the update, the App Store will be available right on the watch, and the system will focus even more on the state of health. Along with alerts about high noise levels, watchOS 6 will feature a “menstrual cycle tracker” and audiobook support. In addition, the watch will have additional dials: Meridian, Modular Compact and Solar Dial. The update will begin to spread from September 19. Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple Watch Series 4 also support the update.
Prices for Series 5 start at $ 399 (~ 26,000 rubles) for the non-LTE version and from $ 499 (~ 32,500) for the cellular network version. Note that prices may vary, depending on the region of sales.
